Osom Macbere: PDP is not dead in Bayelsa
Osom Macbere
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State chapter, Thursday, June 4 debunked insinuations in some quarters that the state would be captured by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election.
PDP also insisted that the party was not dead in the state as claimed by some APC stalwarts.
The party was reacting to a news report on the Africa Independent Television (AIT) network credited to some APC chieftains to the effect that the PDP was gasping for breath.
In a statement in Yenagoa by the Publicity Secretary, Osom Macbere, the PDP said that it was a deliberate falsehood aimed at weakening the party ahead of the governorship election.
Macbere said the recent gale of defections by some members of the party to the APC in the state was not an indication that the party had lost grip on Bayelsa.
He boasted that the APC lacks what it takes to defeat the PDP and take over Creek Haven (Government House).
He said the party was aware that some of the defectors were the stooges of a chieftain of the APC and former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva.
