Africa’s richest man and foremost business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has disclosed that despite his wealth, he has no residential property outside Nigeria.
Dangote, whose 2015 net worth was put at $21.6billion, according to Forbes, also revealed how the late Chief M. K. O. Abiola discouraged him from investing in the media.
The business mogul stated this during an interactive meeting with senior media executives in Lagos at the weekend.
He said, “Somebody asked me, how many houses do you have abroad? I said, well, to tell you the good news, I don’t even have a nine-inch block outside Nigeria, and that is the truth; I don’t have a house anywhere abroad.”

The Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki has denied saying he stepped down for President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2015 presidential election,

The clarification was made by Saraki’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu, on Sunday in a telephone interview.
According to Olaniyonu, what the Senate President said during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Saturday was that he dropped his presidential ambition, once President Buhari announced his intention to contest the 2015 presidential election, adding that Saraki only stated during the interview that he stepped down from running for the President so as to be part of the solution to the nation’s social and economic problems which Buhari had prepared himself very well to tackle.

SCIENTISTS have discovered that individuals who consume high amount of imported poultry meat especially chicken and turkey are at risk of kidney diseases, food borne diseases like typhoid and if care is not taken it could lead to death.
The scientists say they have been able to link the isolation of Salmonelia spp with imported poultry meat, which is a leading cause of death among those with high consumption of smuggled poultry meat.
They confirmed that these bacteria can provoke a number of symptoms of disease within 72 hours of exposure and could last four to seven days, necessitating hospital admission in some cases.
They affirmed: “Infection with Salmonella spp could be life- threatening, especially to those with weak immune systems such as infants and the elderly. Chronic exposure to the bacteria could result in arthritic symptoms.”

A member representing Barakin Ladi  and Riyom federal constituency of Plateau State, at the House of Representatives, Honourable Istifanus Gyang, has declared that the raging hostilities between the natives Berom and Fulani, has claimed the lives of over 276 persons while 350 escaped death with fatal injuries, from January to-date in the troubled constituency
Speaking with newsmen on ongoing efforts to arrest the pathetic situation in the two local government areas, Honourable Gyang said the deaths and injuries resulted from attacks on 38 rural communities within Barkin-Ladi and Riyom councils.

The council, which has the 36 state governors and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria as members, is saddled with the responsibility of advising the President on economic affairs of the country.

Security forces in Chad have arrested 60 suspected militants and dismantled a cell responsible for two suicide bomb attacks in its capital on June 15, the chief prosecutor of the central African nation said on Sunday.
Blasts in two police offices in N’Djamena that appeared to have been coordinated killed 34 people including four suspected Boko Haram militants and injured dozens, Reuters says.
It was the largest attack of its kind in Chad.

Two nursing mothers have been killed after they were hit by bullets fired by a policeman at a funeral in Ivhiokhile quarters, Fugar, administrative headquarters of Etsako Central local government area of Edo State.
The policeman and his colleagues were said to have accompanied a traditional ruler in Uzaire clan, HRH Imonike Omogbai, to the event, but started shooting sporadically.
A two-month-old baby strapped to the back of one of the victims narrowly escaped death as the bullet that hit the mother on the neck was few inches away from the baby.

As the clamour for President Muhammadu Buhari to unfold an economic blueprint and appoint ministers to his cabinet grows louder, there are indications that the president may not appoint any members to his cabinet for at least two months.
Opening up to journalists in Abuja, a source close to the president said Buhari was not in a hurry to appoint ministers to continue the culture of “chopping” and “corruption” that was pervasive in previous administrations.
He said the president was taking his time to study the Ahmed Joda Transition Committee and Steve Oronsaye reports in order to harmonise their recommendations with the aim of restructuring the public sector that is free of waste, corruption and inefficiencies.

Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation Disciplinary Committee,  Barr. Christopher Green, has rubbished claims that he has an axe to grind with Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.
He also disclosed that the case before his committee which has to do with indiscipline involving captain Vincent Enyeama and Keshi is an internal issue that would be treated as such, blaming the media for blowing the matter out of proportion.
“We have done the first case [concerning Super Eagles Captain Vincent Enyeama]. We have sent the first case back to the Nigeria Football Federation. It’s an internal matter that is happening internally. The NFF has the internal mechanism to deal with such matters,” Green told Goal.

Customers in Owerri have besieged banks trying to beat the deadline of June 30 for the verification of bank accounts.
A Correspondent of the Newsman who visited some banks in Owerri on Monday, reports that bank officials and security operatives, were having a tough time controlling the customers.
Reacting to the development, some of the customers called for the extension of the deadline.
A customer at the First Bank, Mrs Catherine Okwuosa, said a lot of people spent the whole day queuing for the exercise without being verified.

Five people were killed and 16 injured when two female suicide bombers  attacked a hospital in Maiguguri, Borno, on Saturday. 
The two suicide bombers were among the dead.
The two women tried to get into a hospital but were stopped by security guards at the gate and blew themselves up, witnesses said.

Rochas Okorocha, the Governor of Imo State, has affirmed that there is no big deal for a government official to fly private jet.
Speaking with SaharaTV on Saturday, Okocorcha said he hated poverty and injustice, adding that anyone criticizing private jet owner was poor.
He also addressed issues of political factions in the National Assembly (NASS), the presidential and gubernatorial elections in the South-East.
Speaking about the current economic state of Nigeria, and whether Governors across the country were responsible, Okorocha blamed former President Jonathan for leaving a “virtually empty” treasury for Buhari’s administration.

Commercial activities were paralysed on Saturday in Anambra State following protests by traders across the state.
The traders, who closed their shops as early as 9am in major cities of Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, Ekwulobia and Agulu, took to the streets protesting what they termed plan by the Federal Government to transfer Boko Haram detainees to prisons in the state.
At Tarzan junction, Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, traders and other residents blocked the Enugu – Onitsha Expressway chanting songs suggesting they would be forced to revive the clamour for Biafran Republic if pushed to the wall.
