The All Progressives Congress has assured workers in Osun State that Governor Rauf Aregbesola will soon pay them their outstanding salaries.
The Director of Publicity of the APC in the state, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, gave this assurance in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday to greet Muslims ahead of the commencement of the Ramadan.
The party appealed to the workers to exercise more patience and perseverance, while stating that Aregbesola was working round the clock to ensure payment of their salaries.
The statement read, ” Nigeria is going through a financial tragedy which was avoidable, but had befallen the country owing, fundamentally, to human selfishness and carelessness, including gross mismanagement of the country’s financial resources.
“In times like this, when we face a collective challenge approaching the Ramadan,  our  faith must not waver, our restraint must not snap and our perseverance should hold firm so that we can triumph over this tragedy within the fasting period.
“We give assurances  to government workers and the people who depend on government that this crisis of non-payment of salaries and other entitlements will very soon be resolved. “

The APC therefore urged the workers and the other residents of the state  to disregard the “evil characters amongst us” who he said were trying to incite them against the government over the issue.
The ruling party stated that the opposition parties were incapable of  suggesting a solution, but were out to sow discord  and to rejoice on the misfortune of others.
“But as Ramadan approaches, our spiritual self-restraint should take control of our emotional and financial strains, and Osun should demonstrate that their religious faith is solid and capable of withstanding what we are going through.
“It is only through this unflinching demonstration of active faith that Allah will grant us relief and victory over our problems,” he added.
