Children are employed in both formal and informal sectors.

Children are employed in both formal and informal sectors.

The term “child labor” is often defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical-mental development. It refers to work that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful to children, and interferes with their schooling by depriving them of the opportunity to attend school, obliging them to leave school prematurely or requiring them to attempt to combine school attendance with excessively long and heavy work.

THE ERADICATION OF CHILD LABOR: AN IMPETUS fOR NIGERIA DEVELOPMENT

*THE ERADICATION OF CHILD LABOR: AN IMPETUS fOR NIGERIA DEVELOPMENT*

Children are the glory and joy of life. Children are the gift of God on earth. They are the basis of development in any nation. With these ubiquitous essence of children to life and its function to nation, its however saddened to know that some children are deprived from their right to education, right to enjoy childhood and other basic right necessary for children to develop to their full potential as a result of works that is physically, mentally, socially and morally harmful to children known as child labor.
Child labor as a cankerworm all around the world maybe responsible for the reason as to why countries thrive and some fail. As they say "children are the leaders of tomorrow". This means that nations that are willing to provide viable and visionary leaders that will contribute to the nation development, to this extent should be ready to shun child labor because child labor is an impediment to child development which may leads to the nation impediment.

GIVE THEM WHAT THEY DESERVE : International day Against child Labour

GIVE THEM WHAT THEY DESERVE

We all wished for a better life,
Such, that is full of milk and honey with no cause to strife.
We all hoped for superfluous riches and wealth,
And every pleasure and treasure on the surface of earth.
It was neither our desire to be at the end of the food chain,
Nor our fault to be drenched by the shameful rains.

We wanted to be sincerely educated at all cost,
Against our unfair destinies, this became so worst.
We wanted to dress up good and smell so nice,
But to rise, we couldn't afford the exorbitant price.
In public places, we wanted to speak loud and clear,
Alas! We were ridiculed to the point of ceaseless tears.
