She added that even though this development of having both the ruling party and the opposition as leaders played out in Cross River State in 1991, it has never happened at the national level.
She praised Saraki for keeping alive his late father’s dynasty politically noting that his father was a vibrant senate leader in his time and urged him to be all inclusive in his leadership so that every senator would have a high sense of belonging.

The statement reads in parts:”I fraternally congratulate my brothers and colleagues, Senator Bukola saraki and Ike Ekweremadu as they emerge leaders of the 8th Assembly.
“Their emergence will no doubt reinforce democracy and pave way for necessary check and balances.
“I am confident that their wealth of experience, especially Ekweremadu’s, would come to bear and Nigerians will benefit from their robust contributions and leadership.
“I implore them (Saraki, Ekweremadu) to be all inclusive and ensure every member has a sense of belonging. This is the surest way to make legislative progress and impact significantly on the Nigerian people,” she said.
