Former Aviation Minister and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Femi Fani-Kayode, has congratulated the new leadership of the National Assembly.
Fani-Kayode, who was the Director of Publicity of the PDP 2015 Presidential Campaign Committee, congratulated Senators Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu for emerging as President and Deputy President of the 8th Senate Session.

Saraki, who is of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious as against the choice of his party for the senate presidency, Ahmed Lawan. Ekweremadu is of the PDP.

Both Saraki and Ekweremadu emerged unopposed in an election that was conducted while most APC senators were away for a crucial meeting with President Muhammad Buhari.
The meeting, however, did not hold eventually.
In the House of Representatives, Abubakar Dogara of the APC defeated Femi Gbajabiamila also of the APC to emerge as Speaker.
Like Saraki, Dogora contested the election against Gbajabiamila, who was APC’s choice.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode said he was proud of Gbajabiamila for putting up a good fight.
Dogora emerged Speaker with 182 votes as against Gbajabiamila’s 174.
“My heart goes out to my brother Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila on the outcome of the election for Speaker of House of Representatives. Though he lost, he fought a good fight and I am very proud of him,” Fani-Kayode said on his facebook page.
