Woman stabbed her Child to death in Ogun

As Nigeria and the world celebrated Children’s Day yesterday, tragedy struck in the Ogunso area of Otta in Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Area of Ogun State when a woman allegedly ran amok, stabbing her three-year-old son to death.

The suspect, identified as Funmilayo Adeyanju, allegedly committed the crime at about 4pm, stabbing her child, Emmanuel several times in the head and other parts of the body with a knife.
The innocent child was said to have given died after writhing in pain and rolling in his blood for a short while his berserk mother dealt him multiple knife-cuts.
Although, no one could ascertain the cause of the alleged crime, Crime Watch Today gathered that the child was a product of an alleged incestuous relationship between the woman and her own biological father, which occurred about three years ago.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Muyiwa Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent, said  policemen from Ota Division had visited the scene of the crime and taken the corpse to the mortuary.
He noted that the woman who was immediately arrested by the police, displayed some strange behaviour when questioned about the alleged crime.
The PPRO said, “The police have been to the scene to recover the body of the child. The woman has been acting strangely like a person who is of unsound mind. The police would carry out proper investigation.
“The police will work on the state of mind of the woman and we’ll have to seek the help of an expert to know her mental state.”
