Female Youth Corps Member Found Dead In Ilorin


a member of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, serving in the state, Miss Yetunde Shukurat Idowu, was found on the street, dead.

The Lagos-based corps member was an indigene of Ogun state and lived at Tanke along University road and was of the NYSC 2014 Batch ‘B’ set.

The deceased’s corpse was found on Sunday night around GRA Ilorin.
However, her family has been contacted while her corpse would be released today on the insistence of the family.


damislight.blogspot.com gathered that, the deceased served with the state broadcasting coprpation, (Radio Kwara), Ilorin.

Speaking with our correspondent, the police PPRO, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi, said, “We are stiill investigating, we cannot conclisuvely say it is a case of abduction or ritual killing because no part of the body was missing. It could be a case of a hit and run careless driver or an accident outrightly.

“I can’t confirm that she was raped because all the examinations conducted on her does not show any sign of rape and we are still investigating but I cannot say exactly what happened.

“As far as we are concenrned, it was a reported case of “found dead” with a broken skull and bruishes, for now I can’t tell you whether it was a case of whether rape, abduction or kidnapping.

He said the corpse would be released today (yesterday) while investigation would continue to unravel the Circumstances surrounding the death of the youth corps member.

NYSC PRO in the state, Oladipo Morakinyo said a corps member died and death is a natural phenomenon and we have done the needful by contacting her family.

“It is only the medical expert that can diagnose what actually kill her and this is beyond the scope of our scheme. The most important thing is that a corps member died and the NYSC has done the necessary thing that we are expected to do. we have contacted the family.”
