Agbaji attack: Kwara group insists APC is behind violence

A Kwara State group, Kwara Progressives Front, has accused the All Progressives Congress of resorting to violence after its “O to ge” campaign allegedly failed

O to Ge meaning “Enough is Enough” in English, is the battle cry of the APC calling for the end of the long dominance of the politics of the 51-year-old state by the Saraki family.

“The APC in Kwara cannot handle the realities on ground and that is why they are desperate and have resorted to violence to cause panic and commotion within the state,” Kwara Progressive Front said in a statement on Tuesday.

The group is talking in the wake of an attack on a community, Agbaji, in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

Suspected political thugs Sunday morning allegedly attacked the family residence of Senate President Bukola Saraki in Ilorin, Kwara State.

“I just finished assessing the level of damage done to my family quarters and community today in Agbaji, Ilorin by the thugs of a factional All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state”, Saraki tweeted.

According to Olu Onemola, the Senate President’s Special Assistant on New Media, he said the hoodlums injured at least 11 people and damaged up to 50 vehicles.

However, APC Kwara state chapter, on Sunday alleged that the PDP thugs were behind the attack while disguising with APC’s branded shirts.

“We have information that PDP thugs, true to our predictions since December 2018, have now mass-produced vests and other APC logos with which they are going around Kwara State to destroy things and attack innocent citizens,” Rafiu Ajakaye, media aide to the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Governorship Campaign Organisation said in a statement.

Armed with guns and other deadly weapons, they are wearing the same APC vests and filming themselves as they carried out this act of violence against Kwarans,” Ajakaye added.

But Kwara Front insisted that APC was behind the recent cases of violence in the Kwara State capital.

“The APC in Kwara state have turned our dear State of Harmony into a state of anarchy because of their desperation to seize power by all means. By doing that, the APC has just won the election for PDP and Dr. Bukola Saraki.”
