400 level UNIOSUN student found dead in Iragbiji

The corpse of a 400 level student of the College of Education, Osun State University, Ipetu Ijesa Campus, Miss. Rofiat Adebisi, who went missing since last week has been found in Iragbiji in Osun State.
Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday that the corpse was found in Iragbiji last Friday and the police had started working to unravel the cause of the death and those behind it.
Sources said the deceased left her campus in Ipetu Ijesa to attend a religious programme at Ikoyi town off Ife-Ibadan Expressway in Osun State last Thursday but nothing was heard from her since.
Her family and colleagues were said to have been worried and the discovery of her corpse confirmed their worst fear.

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, saying the police were working to unravel the cause of the death.
Asked to asertain if Adebisi was shot dead or strangulated, the CP said the deceased was not shot but he could not say if she was strangulated or not, adding that the police would require experts to know the cause of the death.
He said no arrest had been made but stated that the police would get to the root of the matter and prosecute whoever was found to be culpable.
The Vice Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Prof. Labode Popoola, confirmed the incident To our correspondent on the telephone. He described it as a shock.
The VC said, ” I was informed of the case yesterday but nobody know the cause of the death now. The police are investigating it. Nobody knows the cause but it happened.”
The Deputy Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students in the South West, Mr. Sheed Afolabi, while speaking with our correspondent on the incident urged the police to arrest those behind the killing and bring them to justice.
Afolabi said, “This is another sad incident. I heard of the incident and I think there is the need to beef up security in the state to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.
“The police should unravel those behind the killing and bring them to justice. Two final year students of UNIOSUN have been missing since early September and their whereabouts remain unknown till today. Their parents are in sorrow and this is why I believe security agencies should help us by working harder than before to ensure that the state is safer than it is.”
Meanwhile, the mother of one of the two final year students of the same university who got missing since September 2016, Mrs. Marian Ogunlana, has said she is worried that her son and his friend have not been found almost four months ago.
Ogunlana, who is the mother of Samuel Eke, said she had been running everywhere to inquire from prophets and had been attending various church vigils to know the whereabouts of her son and his friend, Robert Akinduro, who went missing together.
Speaking with our correspondent on the telephone, Ogunlana, said she was told at a church recently that her son and his friend were still alive.
She said, “It is over three months now that they went away and I have not heard anything from them. Nobody has contacted me to tell me where they are. I have been going from place to place and attending vigils.
“I attended a vigil recently and I was told that they are still alive. But how long will I stay without knowing where my only son is. I am worried, I am just alive by the grace of God, in fact, I don’t know what to do again.
” There is no traces of them anywhere since that night they went missing. The suspect has been released by the court. It is only God that knows what happened to the two of them that night and if that boy ( suspect) knew anything about it,”
Ogunlana, who is a single mother said she laboured to raise Samuel and his disappearance had made her life a miserable one.
The distraught mother said there must be something strange happening at Oke Baale area, Osogbo where the two students got missing, saying it was still a mystery that her son and his friend could disappear without any traces of them for over three months.
Members of the family of Akinduro are also worried that Robert, who is a final year student of Computer Science Department just like Samuel is missing since September 5.
Henry, who is also a student of the same Institution, spoke to our correspondent on behalf of the family.
He said nobody had contacted the family adding that the two families had been left to search for their missing students.
” We just believe God will take over the situation and we will see my brother and is friend one day. Nobody is contacting the family now,” he added.
