President Muhammadu Buhari has demanded evidence from his wife who claims that his government is being run by a cabal.

He made this demand in an interview with Voice of America, Hausa.

The President’s wife, Aisha Buhari, during an interview with British Broadcasting Service, Hausa, had first alleged that her husband was being controlled by a cabal.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday said his kinsmen, the ethnic Yoruba, are those who will determine if a Yoruba person succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 — that is if Mr Buhari gets a second term.

Mr Osinbajo appealed to ethnic sentiments as he met the Alaafin of Oyo in Ibadan, urging the Yoruba to work for the success of Mr Buhari in 2019.

 He agued that it would take a long time for a Yoruba person to get the Presidency if Mr Buhari fails to return in 2019.

Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding (CBCIU), Osogbo, Osun State has said that Africa’s contribution to the world civilization cannot be ignored.

Speaking at the centre’s symposium for celebrating African iconic figures in all parts of the world, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the CBCIU, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, said Africans are renowned for rear feat and greatness despite “desperate attempt to shroud these wonderful manifestations of triumph and immensity from us and our children.”

Nigerians have taken to social media to congratulate Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele Bello and her husband, AbdulRasheed–Bello aka JJC Skillz, on the birth of their twin boys

Akindele-Bello has been trending on Twitter as Nigerians rejoiced over the reported birth of her twins. They have trooped to her Instagram page and that of her husband’s to drop their congratulatory messages.

The birth of the twins was confirmed by Akindele’s publicist, Mr. Biodun Kupoluyi. He said, “the family just welcomed a set of twin. They are boys.”

No fewer than 5,000 people from different parties in Kwara State South Senatorial District on Saturday defected to the All Progressives Congress at a rally in Omu-Aran, Kwara, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The defectors, majorly from the Peoples Democratic Party were received and presented with their membership cards at the APC campaign flag-off in respect of Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections.

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is monitoring its workers nationwide who may be fraternising with politicians. 

The commission said it would also properly screen people and organisations seeking to observe the 2019 polls to ensure that those having connection with candidates and political parties are excluded.


INEC said the purpose of accrediting observers for elections was a noble one intended to increase the transparency and openness of the process, adding that observing elections would not be left in the hands of political parties, candidates and political interest groups.

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Akiolu 1 has said that God will not allow any other party to take over governance in the state in the forthcoming general elections apart from the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Oba Akiolu stated this in his remark on Saturday at the 11th Annual Hijrah Lecture and Commissioning of the new House of Assembly Mosque at the Assembly complex.

The new Mosque, he said, is unique especially as it is built inside the Assembly complex where bills are passed into laws.

  The popular Banex Plaza located in Wuse 2, Abuja, was, yesterday, sealed off on the alleged order of a magistrate court. 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) had gone to court asking for vacation of the premises by Banex Plaza tenants.

 Mr Chibuike Nzedinma, chairman, Banex Plaza Wuse 2 Tenants Association, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the closure was uncalled for.
